30-year China treasury bond futures hit new yearly high

China's 30-year treasury bond futures reached a new high for the year on August 13, following signals from the People's Bank of China regarding liquidity management.

The central bank announced it would conduct overnight reverse repo operations mid-month, with daily volumes not exceeding 600 billion yuan. This move is interpreted by market analysts as an effort to support short-term liquidity and smooth out potential funding gaps caused by government bond issuances and tax deadlines.

Analysts from Huachuang Investment noted that while the increased frequency of these operations demonstrates more refined liquidity management, it does not necessarily signal a broader shift toward monetary easing. The operations aim to meet specific seasonal demand without causing excessive medium-to-long-term liquidity accumulation.
