30th Luzzi‑Sambucina Hill Climb Kicks Off in Calabria

The 30th edition of the Luzzi‑Sambucina hill‑climb race begins on the weekend of 1‑2 August 2026 in the province of Cosenza, Calabria. Organized by Tebe Racing, the event counts as a round of the Italian Mountain Speed Championship (Campionato Italiano Velocità Montagna Sud) and also contributes points to the Italian Bicylindriche Championship. About 180‑190 historic and modern cars will tackle the 6.15‑km, winding SP 248 route that climbs toward the Abbazia della Sambucina.

Top‑class drivers highlighted for the E2SC/SS 3000 category include Luigi Fazzino and Achille Lombardi on Osella PA30s and Samuele Cassibba in a Nova Proto NP01. Fazzino warned, “Here it will be important to drive very cleanly, avoiding too much stress on the tyres.” Lombardi and Cassibba stressed the need to fine‑tune tyre compounds and memorise the technical sections during the reconnaissance runs on 1 August. Island Motorsport, represented by Eros Di Prima, Ciro Barbaccia and Salvo Vitale, will also field historic cars such as an Osella PA9/90 BMW and a Gi Pi Sport Cosworth.
