3Cat to launch 20 thematic YouTube channels

3Cat, the multimedia platform encompassing Catalonia’s public media outlets TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio, has announced an ambitious digital expansion strategy on YouTube. The plan involves creating approximately 20 specialized channels to reach diverse audiences, particularly younger generations, by utilizing native digital content and the platform’s specific language.

Seven channels are already in operation or being integrated, including 3Cat Ficció, 3Cat Humor, 3Cat Esports, 3Cat Info, and Eva Extra. The expansion is expected to continue through June 2027, with planned additions covering topics such as cooking, documentaries, landscapes, meteorology, and an Ultra HD channel for exclusive content.

The strategy includes collaborating with Catalan digital content creators and leveraging archival footage to give historical content a second life. Rosa Romà, director of 3Cat, emphasized the necessity of being present where citizens consume content, noting that promoting Catalan-language productions online is a key objective of this digital transformation.
