4-H youth showcase agricultural and creative skills at state fairs

Youth participants in the 4-H program are showcasing agricultural and creative skills at regional state fairs in Idaho and Iowa.

At the Eastern Idaho State Fair, 4-H members engage in animal markets designed to teach livestock management, financial responsibility, and business communication. Participants learn to raise animals for profit, manage records, and interact with potential buyers and business owners to prepare for market sales.

In Iowa, more than 2,450 youth exhibitors displayed over 3,300 static exhibits at the Iowa State Fair. Notable recognitions included awards for crop production, plant science, food and nutrition, and visual arts. These exhibits represent months of hands-on learning in areas such as soil erosion, citizenship, and civic engagement.
