4 živly Film Festival Opens in Banská Štiavnica Aug 6‑9 on Generation Theme

The 28th edition of the 4 živly Film Festival will take place in Banská Štiavnica from 6 to 9 August. The summer festival’s theme is “Generation”, and the programme pairs the film lineup with a series of ancillary events.

Two public discussions will explore inter‑generational differences: anthropologist Helena Tužinská and philosopher Anton Vydra will talk about intimacy and safety, while a second panel led by Radka Semancová and Ivana Klimentová will examine how successive generations have handled money and family finances. A stand‑up performance titled “Hot Flashes Trio” will present the first Slovak comedy about menopause, featuring three actresses from different age groups. Attendees can also join an inter‑generational knowledge quiz, a creative workshop, and a concert by Bratislava’s electronic‑rock band Duplex Komplex, with guest singer Sisa Fehér and Czech pianist Vojtěch Procházek.

The festival aims to foster dialogue across age groups, combining cinema with music, humor and discussion to highlight how generations differ and overlap.
