440 kg of cocaine seized in tanker truck at Brazil's Mato Grosso do Sul–São Paulo border

Brazilian Federal Highway Police (PRF) intercepted a tanker truck near the Selvíria checkpoint on the Mato Grosso do Sul‑São Paulo border, discovering approximately 440 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the vehicle’s compartment. The driver was arrested on the spot after police followed the truck from Bataguassu toward São Paulo and conducted a detailed inspection on a bridge over the Ilha Solteira hydroelectric plant. The seized cocaine, packed in roughly one‑kilogram tablets, will be forwarded to the Ilha Solteira police station for further investigation, including the origin of the shipment and any additional participants in the trafficking network.

The operation highlights ongoing drug‑smuggling routes that move large quantities of narcotics from interior Brazilian states toward major urban markets. Authorities have placed the driver in custody pending judicial proceedings, and the case is now under the jurisdiction of the Andradina Police Department in São Paulo.
