45-year-old man arrested in Montieri for domestic violence

Carabinieri in Montieri detained a 45‑year‑old man after prosecutors in Grosseto detailed a pattern of abuse toward his partner dating back to 2018. The victim reported daily physical assaults, verbal insults and repeated death threats, including statements such as “I’ll kill you and throw you among the wild boars.” Several incidents occurred in the presence of the couple’s minor daughter, resulting in bruises, facial scratches and a head injury caused by a blunt object.

Judge Marco Mezzaluna ordered pre‑trial detention, stating that the suspect posed a concrete danger to the victim’s safety and that less restrictive measures would be insufficient under Italy’s tightened rules on preventive custody in family‑violence cases. The suspect was taken to a prison in Via Sa and placed in custody pending further investigation.
