48 Hours launches video podcast series on Mindi Kassotis case

The 48 Hours franchise is launching a new six-part video podcast series titled ‘The Woman in the Woods,’ hosted by correspondent Erin Moriarty. This marks the brand’s expansion into video podcasting to meet changing consumer behaviors and the growing dominance of platforms like YouTube.

The series investigates the mysterious case of Mindi and Nick Kassotis. While friends and family were initially informed that Mindi had died suddenly in a hospital and Nick had died months later, the narrative shifted when a dismembered body resembling Mindi was discovered in a swamp near Savannah, Georgia. The investigation explores claims that the couple was being hunted due to Nick’s previous classified military work.

New episodes are scheduled to release every Wednesday starting September 16, 2026. The video format will feature never-before-seen interview footage from original 48 Hours broadcasts, alongside photography, b-roll, and animated text. Audio versions will be available on major platforms including Apple and Spotify.
