48‑Year‑Old Man Barred from Approaching Partner After Brutal Abuse in Reggio Emilia

Police in Reggio Emilia placed a 48‑year‑old man from Campegine under an absolute restraining order, fitted with an electronic bracelet, after a victim described severe domestic abuse. The 39‑year‑old woman reported that over more than a year she endured insults, physical beatings, threats of death, being whipped with a towel, forced cold showers, and having her head forced into a freezer. The assault peaked during the night of 15‑16 June when the suspect struck the victim with a fist, threatened to kill her, dragged her naked to the kitchen, and repeatedly subjected her to the freezing treatment. She was taken to hospital with bruises, facial swelling, and a hair‑pulling injury. The Carabinieri intervened after a 112 call, and the prosecutor secured the restraining order to keep the man at least one kilometre away from the victim and her relatives.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence in the Reggio Emilia area, prompting law‑enforcement vigilance and legal measures to protect victims.
