Metro Redux series receives next-gen updates with DLSS 5 support
4A Games and Deep Silver have released a major next-gen update for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on PC. The update introduces significant graphical and performance enhancements, including 4K texture support, unlimited frame rates, and improved lighting through Screen Space Global Illumination.
Notably, the update includes unannounced support for NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, making these titles the second games to implement the technology after NBA 2K27. This feature uses AI to enhance photorealism, specifically improving lighting, materials, and character details. Due to the high computational demands of DLSS 5 and path tracing, high-end hardware like the GeForce RTX 50-series is recommended for optimal performance.
The update also adds support for FSR, 4A TSR, spatial audio, and modern controllers such as the DualSense and Xbox Impulse triggers. While the PC versions are available now via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store, updates for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are scheduled for release on October 29, 2026. These updates serve as a technical bridge ahead of the upcoming title, Metro 2039, slated for release in February 2027.
