4iG expands into energy sector with nuclear and wind projects

Hungarian telecommunications and digital infrastructure group 4iG Nyrt. has announced the creation of a new energy business unit. The company intends to establish an independent holding company to act as a regional strategic platform, incorporating international investors and technological partners.

Key strategic moves include signing a letter of intent with the American firm X-energy for the regional deployment of small modular reactors (SMR). Additionally, 4iG is pursuing a preliminary cooperation agreement to acquire a 45 MW wind farm park in Poland. The group is also exploring wind energy and storage development opportunities in North Macedonia and potential energy production capacities in Montenegro.

Following this announcement, 4iG shares saw a positive reaction on the Budapest Stock Exchange, rising approximately 2.4%. This expansion comes amid broader market movements, including a decline in the BUX index and fluctuations in the Hungarian forint, despite strong global earnings from Nvidia.
