50-Year-Old Man Dies in Car During South Korean Heatwave

On 1 May, a man in his 50s was found dead inside a parked car at a trailhead parking lot in Yongdong County, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. He had been fishing for freshwater snails with friends earlier that morning and, after reporting dizziness around 07:40, entered the vehicle to rest.

Police noted that the car’s engine was off, the air‑conditioning was not running, all windows were closed and the interior temperature was likely high, with ambient highs reaching about 35 °C. Investigators consider heatstroke in the sealed vehicle the most probable cause and have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to confirm the exact cause of death.
