5000 Brote campaign supports global education through youth baking

The “5000 Brote” (5000 Breads) nationwide charity campaign has commenced, involving local youth and bakeries to support global educational projects. In Barsinghausen, confirmation candidates from the Mariengemeinde and Emmausgemeinde participated by baking bread alongside local professionals, such as the seventh-generation bakers at Hünerberg Bakery.

The initiative, which has been running since 2012, aims to raise funds for training and education projects in the Global South. This year, proceeds from the campaign are designated to support vocational training programs in Argentina and Mozambique. To date, the campaign has involved approximately 68,800 participants who have baked around 253,000 loaves of bread.
