5th Alpini Regiment Commander bids farewell to Colico

Colonel Riccardo Venturini, Commander of the 5th Alpini Regiment, met with the administration of Colico and the ‘Alto Lario’ section of the National Alpini Association to bid farewell to the community. The meeting precedes the official handover of command scheduled for September 25, after which Venturini will take on a new role in Bolzano.

During the gathering, Venturini presented symbolic gifts to mark the bond between the regiment and the territory, including the Morbegno Battalion flag to the ANA section and a photographic heraldic crest of the 5th Alpini Regiment to the Mayor of Colico, Monica Gilardi. In return, Stefano Foschini, President of the ‘Alto Lario’ ANA section, presented the Commander with a woodcut of the Forte di Fuentes ruins and a wooden sculpture of an alpine hat.

Mayor Gilardi emphasized the enduring relationship between the military unit and the town, noting that the connection remains strong through honorary citizenship and the naming of the square in front of the Town Hall.
