5th Guards Brigade monograph ‘Sokolovi’ presented in Croatia

The monograph ‘Sokolovi’ (Falcons), documenting the wartime history of the Croatian Army's 5th Guards Brigade, has been officially presented at events in Zadar and Dubrovnik. The publication provides a systematic, scientifically grounded, and documentary account of the brigade's operations during the Homeland War.

Created with the participation of over 300 members, the work compares archival documentation with field accounts to ensure historical accuracy. The brigade, which originated from the 204th Vukovar Brigade and included defenders from Vinkovci and Nova Gradiška, maintained over 3,000 active members during the conflict. The monograph details the unit's movements through Maslenica and its operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to military history, the book serves as a memorial to the 89 members of the brigade who were killed or wounded. Speakers at the presentations emphasized the importance of documenting these truths to preserve the historical record for future generations.
