60 Minutes undergoes major overhaul amid CBS News leadership changes

The long-running newsmagazine ‘60 Minutes’ is entering its 59th season following a major overhaul at CBS News led by Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss. The restructuring has involved the departure of several veteran journalists, including former managing editor Guy Campanile and correspondent Scott Pelley. Campanile has publicly criticized the network’s new direction, alleging that management is prioritizing “ideological intrusion” and “corporate priorities” over traditional reporting.

New Executive Producer Nick Bilton, who was brought in by Weiss, is overseeing the transition, which includes revamped graphics and a new lineup of talent such as Ross Douthat, Norah O’Donnell, and Sebastian Junger. While Bilton maintains that the transition is stabilizing, the changes have faced significant scrutiny.

Recent controversy also surrounded a promotional cast photograph for the new season. Social media critics accused CBS of using AI or digital manipulation due to visual inconsistencies in the image. CBS News has denied these claims, stating that the photograph, taken by Mark Seliger at Grand Central Station, is authentic and that perceived anomalies are simply the result of complex group photography.
