61‑year‑old homeless man found dead outside Antalya hospital
Cemal Akbulut, 61, who was homeless and lived near Antalya Education and Research Hospital, was found dead on a bench in front of the emergency department in Muratpaşa’s Varlık neighbourhood on 15:00. Citizens who saw him reported the incident to authorities, and hospital staff confirmed he had no pulse. Police and gendarmerie units, including the homicide bureau, were dispatched, and his identity was established before his body was transferred to the morgue. Akbulut had visited the same emergency department a few days earlier for respiratory problems. The cause of death is being investigated, with an autopsy to be performed by the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute. Officials said the case highlights the vulnerability of homeless individuals who often rely on hospital surroundings for shelter and face barriers to timely medical care.
