67‑year‑old arrested after attempted home burglary in Calatabiano, Italy

Carabinieri from the Fiumefreddo di Sicilia station, together with the Radiomobile unit of the Giarre company, responded to an alarm triggered at a construction house in the municipality of Calatabiano. The property owner reported seeing an intruder on a video feed after the suspect entered the courtyard and tried repeatedly to reach the interior.

Officers positioned themselves at the main entrance, blocked the suspect’s escape route and entered the house through a door damaged with a wooden board. The 67‑year‑old man, already known to authorities for previous property‑related offenses, was apprehended while attempting to flee. A personal search uncovered a 20‑cm folding knife, which was seized, and the suspect was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. The man was placed in judicial custody and handed over to the police judiciary for further proceedings.
