7 Mehmet denies rumors of closing Antalya restaurant

The management of 7 Mehmet, a prominent gastronomic brand in Antalya, has denied rumors that the restaurant will close its operations in the city. The controversy began following a column by journalist Fatih Altaylı, who suggested the establishment might cease operations at Atatürk Kültür Park due to high rent increases demanded by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality.

In a formal statement, 7 Mehmet management clarified that the claims regarding a departure due to exorbitant rent hikes are incorrect and characterized them as misinformation. They explained that the actual issue stems from a long-standing property ownership lawsuit dating back to the 1950s, rather than a rental dispute with the municipality.

Chef Mehmet Akdağ, a third-generation representative of the business, confirmed that the restaurant will continue its activities uninterrupted. He noted that while a new branch was recently opened in Haliç, Istanbul, this investment is independent of the Antalya location and was misinterpreted by some as a sign of the Antalya branch's closure.
