7 Up documentary series concludes after 63 years

The long-running documentary series '7 Up', which has followed 14 British children every seven years for 63 years, is reaching its conclusion with the installment '70 Up'.

Following the death of long-time director Michael Apted in 2021, the series was thought to have ended with '63 Up'. However, the project was revived by Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia. The revival was prompted by a request from participant Nick Hitchon, who contacted producer Claire Lewis to request a final interview following a terminal cancer diagnosis.

The final film incorporates Hitchon’s interview alongside other segments with the participants, serving as a reflection on the passage of time and the impact of the documentary project on the subjects' lives.
