70% of Italians Express Interest in Cruise Holidays, MSC Survey Finds
A survey conducted by AstraRicerche for MSC Cruises shows that 69.8% of Italians would like to try a cruise, up from the 18.3% who have already done so. The Mediterranean is the top preferred region at 46%, followed by the Caribbean (36%) and Northern Europe (32.3%). Younger travellers (ages 18‑29) favor long‑range routes to the Caribbean, while those over 30 prefer closer Mediterranean itineraries. Respondents cite relaxation (63.3%) and comfort as the main draws of cruising, rating ships higher than hotels for wellbeing, comfort and value for money.
Separately, a Vamonos Vacanze report ranking Italian summer 2026 destinations places Puglia first, with Sicily and Sardinia in second and third place. The study highlights a shift toward “reasoned vacations” that prioritize quality‑price balance, authentic experiences and safety. Top regional attractions include Salento, Eastern Sicily and the Costa Smeralda, while Greece remains the most sought‑after overseas spot, and Albania shows the strongest growth among European destinations.
