73-year-old Sturgeon Falls resident killed in Highway 17 scooter‑truck collision
A 73‑year‑old resident of Sturgeon Falls died after his mobility scooter collided with a pickup truck on Highway 17 near Landfill Road in West Nipissing, Ontario, at about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday. Emergency responders from the Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police, West Nipissing Fire and Emergency Service, and the District of Nipissing Paramedic Services attended the scene. The scooter operator was taken to hospital and later pronounced deceased. The pickup‑truck driver was not injured and remained at the scene. The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team is conducting the investigation, and Highway 17 was temporarily closed during the response.
