Alessandro Giannetti dies in motorcycle accident in Sondrio

In Italy, 42-year-old carabiniere Alessandro Giannetti died at Niguarda Hospital in Milan following a motorcycle accident in Sondrio. On the evening of August 6, Giannetti lost control of his Ducati on Provincial Road 15, striking a wall and causing the vehicle to catch fire. An off-duty police officer attempted to assist by using a blanket to extinguish the flames but sustained injuries during the effort.

Separately, in Switzerland, a 69-year-old man from the canton of Ticino was found dead in a glacier crevasse near Glarus Süd. The individual had been missing since August 7 after departing from the Planura hut for a hike. His body was recovered with the assistance of the Rega rescue service following an intensive search involving the cantonal police of Glarus, Graubünden, and Ticino.
