777 Partners files legal notice against Marcos Lamacchia over Vasco SAF control

777 Carioca, the Brazilian subsidiary of 777 Partners, has filed a judicial interpellation in São Paulo to formally notify businessman Marcos Lamacchia of its claim to 70 % of the voting shares in the Vasco da Gama football club’s Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF). The company argues that any sale or renegotiation of the SAF without its consent would be illegal and threatens legal action if Lamacchia proceeds.

Vasco’s management disputes the claim, saying 777 Carioca only holds about 31 % of the SAF shares after a Rio de Janeiro court decision on 15 May 2024 temporarily suspended 777’s management rights. The filing also references the involvement of A‑CAP, whose legal director Jill Gettman signed the notice, and asserts that 777 had offered a guarantee‑insurance to revert control of the SAF, which the club allegedly ignored. The dispute centers on the future governance and possible capital‑raising of the football entity, with both sides using the legal action to strengthen their negotiating positions.
