79-year-old woman dies after drowning in Llagostera pool
A 79‑year‑old woman was found dead after drowning in the pool of her home in the Selva Brava urbanisation of Llagostera, Girona, on the evening of Saturday 11 July. A neighbour discovered her floating in the water and called emergency services. SEM, the Mossos d'Esquadra and local police responded, attempted resuscitation and later confirmed her death at the scene. Investigators said there were no signs of criminal activity and the death appears to be of a biological nature; a full autopsy will determine whether pre‑existing health issues contributed. The incident comes amid heightened concern in Catalonia after a series of recent drownings in both beaches and private pools, prompting civil protection authorities to urge extra caution, especially for vulnerable individuals.
