7th İdil Biret Festival begins in Datça

The 7th İdil Biret Festival, named after the world-renowned 20th-century virtuoso pianist, commenced on September 14 at the Datça Amphitheatre. Organized through a collaboration between the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and Datça Municipality, the event features performances by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra.

The festival will run until September 17, with musical events scheduled across Datça, Bodrum, and Menteşe. The program includes two orchestra concerts and two chamber music concerts, showcasing both established masters and emerging young talents in the classical music world.

Festival Director and Artistic Director Kemal Küçük highlighted İdil Biret’s significant musical legacy, noting her extensive discography of over 150 recordings. Additionally, Taner Yiğit, Head of the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Department of Culture, Arts, and Social Affairs, noted that Muğla has become a member of the European Festivals Association, a process supported by the success of the İdil Biret Festival.
