82-year-old maimed by rottweiler pack in Valparaíso, owner arrested
On the morning of Sunday, 3 May 2024, an 82‑year‑old man was attacked by a pack of at least eight rottweilers at the intersection of Antumapu and Los Álamos in Laguna Verde, Valparaíso region. The assault left the senior with multiple injuries classified as less serious, and a family member who rushed to help also sustained minor wounds.
The dogs' owner, a woman identified by authorities, was detained at the scene by Carabineros and will appear before the Valparaíso Guarantee Court. This incident follows a similar attack less than two weeks earlier in the same neighborhood, where a couple was also assaulted by the same pack, raising concerns about responsible pet ownership in the area.
Local residents reported that the dogs often roam the streets because their owner is incarcerated, highlighting ongoing public safety issues.
