85-year-old former Orléans councilor Nino-Anne Dupieux spent six days on emergency stretcher
Nino-Anne Dupieux, an 85‑year‑old former member of the Orléans municipal council, was hospitalized for a hemorrhage at the CHU d'Orléans in July. Because of a lack of available beds, she remained on a stretcher in the emergency department for six days and five nights before being discharged against medical advice.
Dupieux described the situation as a “hell” with corridors full of stretchers, while union delegate Dorine Lemasson of the CGT said the emergency department’s conditions were catastrophic across all services. The hospital administration acknowledged “tensions on downstream hospitalization capacities” and announced a program to reopen 42 medical beds between September and November.
