Reports are circulating regarding the potential total closure of the Taiwanese bakery and coffee chain 85°C in Hong Kong. While the brand has operated in the region since 2012 through a joint venture with Maxim's Group, recent observations show conflicting statuses among its remaining locations.

A branch in Kwai Fong Plaza has reportedly been cleared of stock and shuttered, with staff from neighboring shops noting the store had been closed for several days. Conversely, the Yau Tong branch appeared to remain operational, despite conflicting information on digital platforms. When contacted, headquarters staff declined to provide specific details regarding the rumors, stating they would respond through other channels.

The Hong Kong Labour Department has intervened following the reports, urging the employer to ensure that all affected employees receive proper severance and compensation in accordance with the law.
