9 de Julio commemorates city foundation anniversary

The city of 9 de Julio is marking its 163rd anniversary of foundation. Historical accounts highlight that the movement of troops toward the Tres Lagunas area was a strategic military and economic project initiated by Colonel Julio de Vedia as early as 1862 to extend the frontier.

In conjunction with the foundation anniversary, the community also recognizes the 27th anniversary of the official presentation of the 9 de Julio flag. Designed by Isabel Torres in 1999, the emblem features symbolic elements including a blue background representing the regional sky, a sun, a saber referencing Colonel de Vedia, and 24 stars representing the district's towns. Other symbols on the flag include wheat stalks for agriculture, a gear for industry, and three lagoons evoking local legend.
