90‑year‑old Merdane Albayrak faces eviction in Turkey after title transfer to son

Merdane Albayrak, a 90‑year‑old resident of Alpaslan village in Taşova district, Amasya, Turkey, is under threat of being evicted from her two‑storey home. About 15 years ago she transferred the property title to her son, who lives in Germany, but a subsequent dispute prevented her from reclaiming it. A court ordered her removal, and an enforcement officer gave her ten days to vacate, warning that police and a locksmith would return if she did not comply.

Albayrak, speaking from her balcony, expressed despair, asking, "Where can I go at this age?" Her daughters, Dilber Yılmaz and Zeynep Cesur, traveled from Istanbul to support her, stating they will contest the eviction and pursue legal action. The son has not commented on the matter.
