911 emergency services disrupted across multiple California counties

Emergency services experienced significant disruptions across several California regions, including Oakland, Riverside County, and Santa Barbara County.

In Oakland, the Police Department reported that its Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system froze on Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m. The outage forced the rerouting of 911 calls to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and the relocation of dispatchers to the Oakland Fire Dispatch Center. Oakland officials stated they are responding only to Priority One calls while the city’s IT department works with AT&T to restore services.

In Santa Barbara, outages appeared to affect AT&T and T-Mobile customers, with local police advising residents to call their 24/7 dispatch center directly if 911 is unreachable. Meanwhile, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reported issues affecting some cellular users' ability to reach emergency services, though officials noted the system was not completely offline.
