9/11 Reunited docuseries features survivors reuniting 25 years after attacks

The National Geographic docuseries ‘9/11 Reunited’, produced in conjunction with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, features survivors of the September 11 attacks reuniting with those they helped or who helped them 25 years after the events.

One featured story follows Jan Demczur, a window cleaner, John Paczkowski, and George Phoenix. The three men were trapped in an express elevator in the North Tower when it was struck. After the elevator plummeted to the 50th floor, Demczur used the blade from his squeegee to score and break through the drywall, allowing the men to reach a stairwell and escape the building five minutes before its collapse.

Another episode highlights the reunion of Debbie St. John and Stefan Horlacher. St. John was injured by falling debris from the South Tower while running from the site. Horlacher stayed with her to provide assistance until an ambulance arrived. Following the attack, St. John underwent 50 surgeries and 18 months of hospitalization.
