9/11 victims' families present new evidence of Saudi complicity

Families of September 11 victims are seeking the declassification of government records and presenting new evidence in an ongoing lawsuit against the Saudi government. The legal battle aims to prove Saudi complicity in the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Newly uncovered materials include videos and sketches that lawyers claim show Omar al-Bayoumi, a Saudi national alleged to be an intelligence asset, casing the U.S. Capitol in 1999 and preparing for the attacks. One video purportedly shows al-Bayoumi describing the building in detail, while a sketch allegedly shows calculations for navigating a plane toward a ground target.

Legal representatives for approximately 10,000 victims' families will present oral arguments before a federal appeals court in Manhattan on October 7. The families are also urging the U.S. administration to declassify phone logs and other documents that they believe will demonstrate that al-Bayoumi was in contact with senior Saudi officials and had foreknowledge of the hijackers' intent.
