Spain implements various national and local road infrastructure projects

Spain is undertaking several significant road infrastructure and maintenance projects across various regions.

In Catalonia, the Ministry of Transport is beginning a 12.3 million euro rehabilitation of the A-2 highway between Cervera and La Panadella. The works, which involve structural and surface repairs, will cause traffic diversions on the left lane toward Lleida during September.

In Andalusia, the Ministry has awarded a 4.6 million euro contract to improve the N-431 in Gibraleón by constructing six new roundabouts to enhance safety and traffic flow. Additionally, a 15.2 million euro project has been tendered to reinforce the A-7 viaduct over Barranco del Caballar in Almería due to structural anomalies.

In Madrid, a 14.3 million euro tender has been published for the rehabilitation of the A-42 highway between Ciudad Real and Daimiel. Meanwhile, in Toledo, a 5.06 million euro project will expand the TO-23 highway and improve the connection with the A-42.

Local urban improvements are also underway. Cádiz has approved an 845,000 euro paving plan for 2026, funded by the Provincial Council, targeting various neighborhoods and main avenues. In Sedaví, new measures include restricting heavy vehicles on Avenida País Valenciano and expanding the traffic camera system. In Benalmádena, a 254,463 euro project will widen Avenida Retamar to improve accessibility.
