A Carixa hosts summer festival with sports and music
The Festa da Carixa took place at the A Carixa river beach, drawing residents and visitors for a day of community activities. The event featured a variety of proposals designed to appeal to a wide audience, moving beyond traditional gatherings to include sports and music.
A central component of the celebration was the pedestrian races held near the Deza River. A total of 56 young athletes participated in categories ranging from 'biberón' (under five years old) to youth (ages 9 to 13). Winners included Xela Campos and Ian Lamas in the youngest category, Brate Salgado and Cibrán González in the children's category, and Gabriel Pena and Álvaro García in the youth category. All participants received medals.
Musical entertainment included a morning concert by the Banda de Música Artística de Merza and performances by a bagpipe group, with festivities continuing into the early morning hours.
