A Coruña advances urban accessibility and coastal walkway projects

A Coruña is undergoing significant urban and coastal improvements aimed at enhancing pedestrian accessibility and public spaces. A new 470-meter section of the A Pasaxe riverwalk, funded by the central government's Demarcación de Costas with an investment exceeding 800,000 euros, is already being used by the public. This project includes a three-meter-wide pedestrian path, a bike lane, lighting, and seating areas. Once completed, expected by late September, the path will connect the former Conservera Celta industrial area to the Santa María del Mar school.

Simultaneously, the reform of the Cantones district is progressing with a focus on reducing asphalt surfaces and increasing green zones. A key component of this urban redesign is the implementation of accessible itineraries for people with visual impairments. In collaboration with ONCE technicians, the city has installed tactile paving, including button-shaped reliefs for warnings and directional strips to guide movement. These works are scheduled for completion in November.
