A Coruña culinary association launches illustrated recipe comic

The Coruña Cociña association has launched ‘Sabor Coruño’, an illustrated comic book that combines gastronomy with graphic storytelling to promote the local cuisine of A Coruña. Illustrated and written by Manel Cráneo, the project features nine recipes from local chefs and restaurants, using humor and illustration to highlight regional identity and the use of local market products.

Featured culinary contributions include steamed hake with green sauce and cockles by Enrique Vázquez Lameiro (Terreo), ray in caldeirada by Víctor Basante Rodríguez (Arrueiro), and duck empanada by Antonio Amenedo (Pazo de Santa Cruz de Mondoi). Other participating chefs include Moncho Méndez (Millo Orzán), Fabián Mouzo Romero (O Camiño Fala), Javier Freijeiro (Pracer), Pablo Gallego, José Mago, and Chisco Jiménez (Culuca Cociña-Bar).

A first edition of 3,700 physical copies will be distributed for free at participating restaurants, while a digital version will be available through the Coruña Cociña website. The initiative received support from the A Coruña City Council to present gastronomy as a reflection of territory, culture, and shared identity.
