A Coruña extends 2026 budgets after opposition deadlock
The municipal government of A Coruña, led by Inés Rey, will extend its 2026 budgets following a failure to reach an agreement with opposition groups BNG and PP. Despite the lack of new accounts, municipal spokesperson José Manuel Lage stated that the decision will not limit investment capacity, noting that approximately 70 million euros are allocated for investments between late 2026 and 2027.
The local administration's roadmap focuses on housing, neighborhood investments, and sustainable mobility. Key objectives include mobilizing unused housing and implementing an urban development plan aimed at generating over 11,000 new homes. Additionally, the city will continue the 2025-2027 Neighborhood Plan and progress with the Coruña Marítima project.
