A. J. Brown suffers high-ankle sprain in Patriots debut

New England Patriots wide receiver A. J. Brown sustained a right high-ankle sprain during the team’s season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. The injury occurred in the third quarter when Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett landed on Brown’s ankle during a pass attempt from quarterback Drake Maye.

While initial X-rays were negative for a fracture, an MRI was ordered to determine the exact severity. Reports indicate Brown could be sidelined for anywhere from three to six weeks, potentially missing several games including the upcoming home opener against Pittsburgh. Brown was seen wearing a walking boot following the match.

The injury is a significant setback for the Patriots offense, which acquired Brown via a blockbuster trade from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason to serve as a primary target for Maye. In his limited debut, Brown recorded three receptions for 26 yards.
