A-League Women clubs Sydney FC and Melbourne City announce player departures
Several players are departing major A-League Women clubs ahead of the upcoming seasons.
Sydney FC has confirmed that Abbey Lemon, Caley Tallon-Henniker, and Sofia Fante will leave the club before the 2026-27 season. Lemon, a defender and forward, departs after four seasons and multiple championship titles. Tallon-Henniker, a winger, also leaves after three seasons, while goalkeeper Sofia Fante departs following her time with the senior squad.
Melbourne City FC has announced the departure of four players following the conclusion of their contracts: Ayana Aoyagi, Caitlin Karic, Chinaza Uchendu, and Ellie Wilson. Karic departs after a five-year tenure with the club. Uchendu, a Nigerian international, contributed significantly to the club’s recent campaigns, including appearances in the AFC Women’s Champions League. While these four players are leaving, Keira Sarris will remain with the club as part of its academy program.
