A-Leagues players negotiate new CBA ahead of 2026/27 season

A-Leagues players are currently in negotiations with the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) regarding a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Despite the upcoming 2026-27 season, a deal has not yet been reached following the rejection of two previous proposals.

Players from both the men’s and women’s competitions are maintaining a united position. A key sticking point in the negotiations involves maternity conditions for A-League Women players, which players are unwilling to forego. Sydney FC goalkeeper Harrison Devenish-Meares stated that while both parties are hopeful for an agreement, the players are not willing to accept current conditions.

In related news for the upcoming season, Mitre has unveiled the Ultimax Pro as the official match ball for both the A-League Men and Ninja A-League Women. The ball features HyperFlow grooves and HyperSeal technology and holds FIFA Quality Pro certification. The A-League Men season is scheduled to begin on October 16, followed by the Ninja A-League Women on October 17.
