A Margem do Rio film releases teaser and release date

The Brazilian queer drama ‘A Margem do Rio’ has released its first teaser and announced a theatrical release date of January 7, 2027. Directed by Matheus Farias and Enock Carvalho, the film follows Izaquiel, a young man living in Recife, who navigates a life of repression by day and seeks freedom and secret encounters in the city's mangroves by night.

The plot centers on Izaquiel’s magnetic connection with Jeremias, a mysterious fisherman, amidst a rising wave of violence threatening the region. The film, which previously won a Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, is scheduled for its first Brazilian screening at the Festival do Rio in October. It will also participate in the Chicago International Film Festival and NewFest in New York.
