The Odyssey becomes Universal Pictures' highest-grossing film

Christopher Nolan’s film ‘The Odyssey’ has become the highest-grossing release in the history of Universal Pictures. The epic, starring Matt Damon, has reached a global box office total of approximately $1.684 billion, surpassing the previous studio record held by 2015’s ‘Jurassic World’ ($1.671 billion).

In addition to breaking the studio record, ‘The Odyssey’ has set several other milestones. It is now the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, surpassing ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, and holds the record for the highest-grossing IMAX feature. The film has also become the most successful production in Christopher Nolan’s career, exceeding his previous hits like ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

Globally, the film has earned over $1 billion in international markets, including significant returns from the United Kingdom, China, and France. Domestically, it has collected over $600 million. NBCUniversal Entertainment chairman Donna Langley described the film as a ‘generational event’ and one of the most ambitious works in cinematic history.
