A1 motorway expands average speed enforcement in Poland

New average speed enforcement systems are being expanded across the A1 motorway in the Łódź Voivodeship. Unlike traditional speed cameras that capture a single point, these systems calculate a vehicle's average speed between two points, making it impossible to avoid penalties by simply braking before a camera.

Several new sections are now under monitoring, including segments between Kaszewy Dworne and Bielice (18 km), Piotrków Trybunalski and Dąbrowa (19 km), Kamieńsk and Stobiecko Szlacheckie (13 km), Kutno and Piątek (18 km), and Siemionki to MOP Strzelce (14 km). The longest monitored stretch in Poland measures approximately 19.3 km.

On the A1 motorway, the speed limit for passenger cars, motorcycles, and delivery vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes is 140 km/h, while trucks, buses, and vehicles with trailers are limited to 80 km/h. In addition to the motorway, enforcement is also active on urban roads, such as a three-kilometer section of Chocianowicka Street in Łódź.
