A1 motorway receives Poland's longest average speed enforcement section

The longest average speed enforcement section in Poland has been launched on the A1 motorway. The system monitors a stretch between the Piotrków Trybunalski Południe and Kamieńsk junctions.

In the direction of Częstochowa, the monitored section spans 19.304 km, while in the direction of Łódź, it covers 18.929 km. This new installation surpasses previous longest sections on the A2 and other parts of the A1 by a narrow margin.

The system operates by recording the entry and exit times of vehicles to calculate average speed. Drivers exceeding the limits—140 km/h for passenger cars, motorcycles, and delivery vehicles up to 3.5t, and 80 km/h for trucks and buses—face fines of up to 5,000 PLN and penalty points. The cameras operate 24/7 and record all lanes.
