A small van carrying food overturned on the A1 Westautobahn in Austria during the early hours of Monday, August 31, 2026. The accident occurred between Oberwang and Mondsee in the direction of Salzburg.
A person was trapped inside the vehicle and required rescue by the Oberwang and Mondsee fire departments. A member of the Oberwang volunteer fire department, who was commuting to work, witnessed the accident and provided first aid until emergency services arrived.
Approximately 50 emergency responders, including firefighters, medical personnel, and police, attended the scene. The injured individual was extricated from the vehicle and handed over to emergency doctors. The accident caused traffic disruptions on the motorway for approximately 30 minutes.
