A14 motorway faces closures and labor disputes

The A14 Bologna-Taranto motorway is experiencing significant disruptions due to scheduled maintenance and ongoing labor disputes.

Nightly closures are scheduled between the Val di Sangro and Vasto Nord sections to facilitate the upgrading of safety barriers. On the night of September 14-15, the section toward Bari will be closed, affecting the Sangro Ovest service area. On the night of September 15-16, the section toward Pescara will be closed, affecting the Sangro Est service area. Drivers are advised to use the SS16 Adriatica as an alternative route.

Separately, the CGIL Marche trade union has renewed its protest regarding construction sites on the A14, specifically in the Porto San Giorgio and San Benedetto del Tronto stretches. The union claims that authorities and Autostrade per l’Italia have failed to address requests for a permanent monitoring table, a clear work schedule, and increased regional oversight to ensure safety and mitigate the impact on commuters and local businesses.
