A14 motorway Vinci tunnel undergoes modernization works

Maintenance and modernization work on the Vinci tunnel along the A14 motorway between Pedaso and Grottammare will result in several nighttime closures. The project involves the installation of a custom-built, 83-ton mobile shield designed to act as a ‘tunnel within a tunnel,’ allowing for the reconstruction of the concrete vault while protecting the work area and ensuring vehicle safety.

Closures are scheduled for three nights: from October 12 to 13, October 13 to 14, and October 14 to 15. During these periods, traffic will be restricted in specific directions between Pedaso and Grottammare, and access to the Piceno West and Piceno East service areas will be prohibited. Drivers will be required to use the SS16 state road as an alternative route.

The installation of the mobile shield is a major phase of the project, involving approximately 50 technicians and 15 vehicles. The structure is expected to be fully operational by October 19, after which work will continue to improve the safety and efficiency of the motorway infrastructure.
