A2 Autostrada del Mediterraneo: Multi-vehicle accidents cause traffic chaos near Reggio Calabria

A major traffic accident occurred on the A2 Autostrada del Mediterraneo in the Reggio Calabria area, involving a multi-vehicle pile-up and a flipped truck. The incidents caused significant disruptions to southbound traffic.

In one instance, a chain collision involving 15 vehicles took place at kilometer 3.5 between the San Gallico and Reggio Calabria-Porto junctions, resulting in two injuries. Anas temporarily closed the southbound lane between kilometer 3.521 and 7.380 to allow emergency services and law enforcement to conduct investigations and clear the wreckage.

Additionally, a truck overturned near the Rosarno junction, blocking the roadway heading toward Reggio Calabria. While the driver was uninjured and his passenger sustained only minor facial abrasions, the overturned vehicle necessitated partial road closures and caused extensive traffic delays. Authorities are currently working to reconstruct the dynamics of these accidents.
